Firstly, Juan Antonio has proposed us to
translate the word "cathedral" and he has explained the importance of
the stress and the rhythm in words and sentences, and he advised us to use our
hands while we reduce the tone speaking sentences. Then we were practicing some
“Tonge twisters” (some of them from the web page “British Council”) and some Rhymes,
like “Baa Baa Black Sheep”. Also, Juan Antonio taught us songs are longer
than Rhymes, and “The 9 reasons to think songs are a good way to learn
English". Finally, he asked us “What criteria would you choose to teach
children by songs?” and we were proposing some examples of suitable songs.
From my point of view, it was a dynamic
and enjoyable class because it was full of examples and videos. Also, Juan
Antonio tried to help us to participate has much as possible so we were quite
active.
Finally, in this class I´ve learnt the
advantages of teaching intonation, rhythm, songs and rhymes to children.
